The
elementary grades at CAL offer an arena for students to expand
their academic pursuits as well as grow in their knowledge
of Christ.
A strong phonics program ensures
that every student develops good reading and comprehension
skills. The curriculum includes Bible classes as well as biblical
integration in language arts (spelling, reading, handwriting,
and language), math, history, and science. In addition to
the traditional curriculum, students receive further instruction
in Spanish, music, art, physical education, drama and computer.
A daily effort is made by teachers and administration to encourage
the development of individual Christian character and leadership.
Extra-curricular and co-curricular activities add to the
educational experience. Field trips are a regular part of
the school year and offer opportunities of “learning
beyond the walls.” CAL’s athletic program includes
various sports activities including martial arts by a national
winner and certified instructor.
We encourage families to become involved at every stage of
the learning process. Whether helping in the classroom, visiting
chapel services, attending special events, serving on the
various committees, chaperoning field trips or coaching or
assisting a sports team, parents can encourage their student’s
development through support in important ways.
Grades 1 through 5 participate in the national Stanford and
OLSAT achievement-testing program annually. Grade appropriate
participation in ASCI academic and arts events is encouraged
in most areas and can be required in others as determined
by the school Administrator.
The CAL uniform policy includes
a generous selection of styles and colors for all elementary
students. The standardized dress code provides a sense of
school unity as well as bringing focus to the broader areas
of educational benefit within the school setting. A detailed
copy of the dress code is in the Elementary Student Handbook.
The Elementary Campus is located in the Anderson Christian
Church. All teachers are caring, qualified individuals who
have a minimum of a bachelors degree, and many have post graduate
work/degrees. As a part of our Biblical emphasis we include:
Chapel Service
