CAL Middle/High School

The Middle School/High School (6-12) is located at the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church campus.

Most classes use an integrated Biblical curriculum, with a stand alone Bible class each day.

All teachers are caring, qualified individuals who have a minimum of a bachelors degree, and many have post graduate work/degrees. We, also, have:

Student/Parent Handbook

The CAL Student/Parent Handbook provides a clear understanding of the policies and rules set forth for the upcoming school year. The handbook was given to each family in August. For your convenience, a copy is available for you to view online.

Dress Code

The CAL uniform policy includes a generous selection of styles and colors for all students. The Christian-based dress code provides a sense of school unity as well as bringing focus to the broader areas of educational benefit within the school setting. 6-12 Private, Christian, Co-educational School Founded in 1996, with the first graduating class in 2003.

Faculty Information:
The faculty includes degreed professionals. One half of the staff members hold masters degrees or above.

Kentucky Nonpublic School Commission

Calendar:
Thirty-six weeks; two semesters; nine-week grading system; seven fifty-minute class periods, all meeting 5 days per week.

Graduation Requirements:
The Standard Program Diploma provides a basic traditional education. The College Prep Program Diploma is more intense and includes course work required by major colleges and universities. The Honors Program Diploma provides a challenging course of study for top students and “Opportunity College” courses offer the chance to earn college credit while at CAL. One hundred twenty five hours of community service are required for graduation, and students will received one credit for this course.

The following 23 credits are required for all 3 diplomas:

English 4 credits Math 3 credits
Science 3 credits Social Studies 3 credits
Computer 1 1 credit Fine Arts 1 credit
Health 1/2 credit Physical Ed. 1/2 credit
Bible 4 credits Electives 2 credits
Christian Service 1 credit    

In addition to these, two credits of Foreign Language are required for the Honors and College Prep program diplomas. The Honors Program requires 25 credits and a 3.5 grade point average. The College Prep program requires 25 credits and a 3.0 grade point average.

Diploma Statistics:
One hundred percent of all graduates have received Honors or College Prep diplomas.

Dual-Credit Program:
Students taking “Opportunity College” courses may earn college & high school credits through Bluegrass Community College.

Governor's Scholar/Junior Miss:
The Class of 2005 had one Governor’s Scholar, Junior Miss winner and Junior Miss first runner-up.

GPA/Class Rank:
Each student earns an unweighted and weighted GPA. The unweighted GPA is on a 4.0 scale. Weighted grades are used for Honors and Opportunity College courses (see grading scale).

Test Summary:
The high school counselor works with students and families regarding preparation and registration for standardized and pre-college testing. All Freshmen are given the Explore Test in the Fall of each year. In addition, Sophomores will take the PLAN (Pre-ACT), Juniors will take the PSAT. Students pay the cost of these tests. All students are given the Stanford Achievement Test in the Spring.

Extracurricular Activities:
Students have the opportunity to participate in field trips, speech meets, art festivals, creative writing, math competition, yearbook, Spanish club, Drama, Academic team, Beta club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Leadership conferences, Band and other activities, including weekly chapel programs.

Please be aware that academic grades and student behavior are taken into consideration for eligibility to participate in any extra-curricular activity.

Atheletic Programs:
The athletic program of Christian Academy is an integral and vital part of the total school education program. Its purpose is to make positive contributions to the physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of the participants, the spectators, the school and the community.
